नेपाली में सगरमाथा कही जाने वाली यह चोटी दुनिया की सबसे ऊंची चोटी है. 1955 में भारत ने इसका सर्वे किया और ऊंचाई 8,848 मीटर बताई. ब्रिटिश सर्वेयर सर जॉर्ज एवरेस्ट के सम्मान में इस चोटी को माउंट एवरेस्ट नाम दिया गया.
